On our road trips around the country to camp, hike and fish, our rods and reels are taking a beating! To combat that issue, I recently received a set of Toadfish Outfitters Stowaway Travel Rods, and I couldn’t be more excited about them. After complaining that no matter what I did my rods and reels were showing some wear and tear from lots of road trips, my wife bought me a pair of travel rods from Toadfish Outfitters as well as a reel locker from Plano for Christmas. To check out my reel locker review, click here!
I was able to use these rods recently on a quick camping trip to South Georgia and I have to say I was very pleased. From the way the tube protected the rods in transport, to the performance of the rods while fighting fish, I am highly impressed with the quality of these products.
In each tube there are 5 rod pieces that can be combined in multiple ways to assemble a 3 piece rod. The 6’8″ model offers a handle, 2 middle sections that allow you to choose a medium or medium light power and 2 tips that allow you to select a fast or moderate fast action. The 7’2″ model is also 5 pieces but offers a medium or medium heavy power selection.
I fished with both rods and was highly impressed. As someone who almost always fishes with one piece rods when home, I didn’t think the multiple piece rod lost any sensation or strength, important qualities when fishing!
I needed a fishing rod solution that could be thrown in the KempBus or Pontoon-A-Fish without a second thought. With the aluminum tube that comes with every Toadfish Outfitters Stowaway Travel Rod, I know I have a winner.
