How to Put Fishing Line On a Spinning Reel

In this video we continue our “Learn to Fish!” series as we show you how to add monofilament fishing line on a spinning rod and reel. While this is a pretty easy thing to do, there are a few tips in the video to help you get it right the first time!

Here is the reel I mention in the video – the Shimano IX

If you are getting line for multiple reels, I recommend buying line in larger quantities.  I recommend Berkley Big Game!

For adding line to a single reel, I love both the Berkley Trilene Smooth Casting and Extra Tough lines!

As we continue this series, you will learn how to tie basic fishing knots, how to bait a hook, what baits to use for different fish, and more!  The goal of this series is not to turn you into a tournament angler, but to build your confidence so you can take your kids fishing!
