Hiking Black Rock Lake Trail is a must do when visiting Black Rock Mountain State Park! This is an easy loop trail that is 0.85 miles long and has almost no elevation change. This trail offers fantastic views of Black Rock Lake and the path is wide and easy to navigate. There is also a small fishing pier at the lake and the trail offers access to bank fishing around the lake.
While there are plenty of hiking opportunities at Black Rock Mountain State Park, most of the trails are moderate to difficult due to the changes in elevation during the hike. If you are up for the challenge, by all means explore those trails as well, but here at Kemp Outside we are focused on the families just starting out with outdoor adventures. Hiking Black Rock Lake Trail is something the whole family can do, regardless of skill level.
The trail is a dirt trail and can be wet or muddy. Unfortunately this trail is not suited for wheelchairs and folks with mobility issues may not be able to navigate the whole trail. Fortunately, the lake can be viewed from a small parking lot next to the fishing pier.
Hiking is a great way to get outside and explore nature. It’s also a terrific way to get some exercise and get your kids to put down their electronic devices. Don’t forget to check out our other hiking adventures!
