Bears in Minnesota!

Having a bear encounter while fishing is always an amazing experience! I’ve been going up to my wife’s family lake cabin for 20 years, and have never seen a bear there.  In fact, Barb’s family has owned the lake cabin since the mid 1980’s and they have never seen a bear there! Imagine my surprise as I’m enjoying a peaceful summer evening fishing in a cove on Big Trout Lake in Crosslake Minnesota as two black bears wander out of the woods and down to the edge of the water.  When I heard splashing in the water, I didn’t even think it was a bear at first, just a large dog.  But as I looked I realized that not only was there a bear, there were two!

From the safety of a pontoon boat, a watched the bears as I drifted closer to them. They were only visible for a few moments, but like every other bear encounter I have ever had, my heart raced and my excitement was hardly containable! You truly never forget wildlife encounters like these!

I shot this footage with my phone, so please excuse any shaking or grainy images.  Where is a HD video camera with zoom lens when you need one?!! Please enjoy the video!
