Jockeys Ridge State Park contains some of the largest sand dunes on the Atlantic Coast and is an amazing place to hike and explore! Nestled in the middle of the Outer Banks, this small state park conserves a fascinating landscape with a beauty all its own. We spent the afternoon hiking the dunes and taking in the fantastic scenery.
We also tried to go hang gliding there as there is a vendor that provides lessons and an opportunity to fly much like the Wright Brothers did a century ago. But unfortunately there was too much wind and flights we canceled for the day. Never the less, we loved our time at Jockeys Ridge State Park and highly recommend you take a few hours to explore the dunes any time you find yourself in the Outer Banks!
Hiking is a great way to get outside and explore nature. It’s also a terrific way to get some exercise and get your kids to put down their electronic devices. Don’t forget to check out our other hiking adventures!
